Layla
LAYLA is a puffy princess -- a long-haired tortoiseshell female kitty with white paws and chest, about 4 years old. She will be very shy starting out, and should have a nice cozy place to hide until she has become accustomed to her new surroundings and humans. Eventually Layla loves to be very much a part of human activities. She enjoys being petted, but be forewarned that she will give you a swipe or quick love bite to let you know she is not done with your attentions just yet! Sometimes she will swipe at your ankles if you ignore her. In her foster home, she will run to a favorite roost and meow for her foster dad to pet her. She enjoys toys that are interactive, like Da Bird and laser pointer, and she also has a pile of small stuffed toys that she pulls out and plays with. She is not fond of being held, but will tolerate being carried. Layla was adopted as a youngster, and came back to us as a very scared, shy kitty when her owner could no longer care for her. With patience and TLC, she will blossom into an affectionate girl who will bond strongly to her adopter, just as she did with her foster dad over the past few months. LAYLA has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. Her adoption fee is $75, which is strictly to help cover our costs. She is currently in the cat room at Petsmart in South Eugene (28th and Willamette). Missy
MISSY is a pretty little tortoiseshell female teenager kitty with striking colors and a cute little white half-moon on her chest. She is the shyest kitten in her litter, but once she has acclimated to her new surroundings, then she warms up quickly and will beg for love and attention. Missy loves to be petted and held on your lap. She enjoys playing with feathered teaser wands and crinkle balls, and she has an adorable squeak-like meow. She also loves to play in boxes and on cat trees. She is good with gentle, relaxed children. She and her siblings were found abandoned as young kittens and have been living in a loving foster home while getting over a harmless skin fungus (they are completely well now). Like most active youngsters, Missy would do best in a home with another playful young animal, or where someone is home a lot to monitor her and give her lots of attention. MISSY has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. Her adoption fee is $100 ($180 for 2 teenagers), which is strictly to help cover our costs. She is currently in the cat room at Petsmart in South Eugene (28th and Willamette). Moe
MOE is a super cute little male kitten who is black with a big white spot right in the middle of his chest. He and his siblings were born in foster care after their pregnant feral mom cat was captured and taken into a loving foster home. He is a happy and energetic little guy who is extremely playful, and he will tear around the house with his siblings. Then when he is finally worn out, he enjoys cuddling with his people! He loves cat trees, feather toys, the laser light, and toy mice. Since he has been handled by humans since birth, he is great with people, and is fine with kids of all ages. He is also good with dogs. Like most high-energy young kittens, Moe should be in a home with another playful young animal, or where someone is home a lot to monitor him, play with him, and give him lots of attention. MOE’s adoption fee is $120 ($225 for 2 kittens), which is strictly to help cover our costs. He has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (he is negative), neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed—plus you get a free vet visit. Sherbert
SHERBERT s a handsome and fluffy young male teenager kitty who is a creamy orange color with very faint tabby markings and an exotic plume of a tail. He is a timid young male who craves affection, but is reluctant to receive it until he is calmly approached and he feels safe. Then he can't get enough affection and replies with unending purrs. Sherbert enjoys chasing strings with cat toys attached, bats at cat toys with feathers, but he can get excited and play rough (he sometimes nips), so he should not be in home with young kids. He is curious and exploratory, and enjoys window watching and sunbathing. Sherbert was abandoned at a local mill as a kitten, and was cared for by the staff there. He was finally brought to a loving WCDC foster home, but he still startles easily at household noises and will run and hide. He will need a calm and patient environment to learn to adjust and trust his new life and family. SHERBERT has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (he is negative), neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed – plus you get a free vet visit. His adoption fee is $100, which is strictly to help cover our costs. He is currently in the cattery at Petsmart in South Eugene (2858 Willamette Street, Eugene OR 97405). Tasha
TASHA is a gorgeous, fluffy young female Siamese/Himalayan mix who has a cream body, paws, and face blaze, with a gray mask, tail, and front legs. This energetic 3-year-old girl has the cutest crossed blue eyes, adores jumping on her cat tree, and loves to chase “Da Bird” toy – she is ferocious when she catches it! Tasha will let you pick her up and is OK with being petted, but she likes it to be her own idea. She was adopted into a household with one other young kitty (Tammy) who is a very dominant girl, and Tasha has really blossomed and is so much more affectionate since being separated from Tammy. She would thrive as an only kitty, but she might be OK with another very mellow cat. Tasha and Tammy’s adoptive mom recently died, and they are now living in a WCDC foster home. Tasha is an easygoing girl who would do well with a cat-savvy person who can encourage her personality to continue to bloom. TASHA has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. We’re partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to provide a $10 adoption fee for Tasha and some of our other very special felines during the month of June! Fast Eddie
FAST EDDIE was an abandoned cat who walked right into his rescuer’s home, looking for food and love. His rescuer fell for him immediately but unfortunately couldn’t keep him as her son had severe allergies. Fast Eddie is a large and handsome black and gray tabby about 3 years old, who looks like he might have some Maine Coon in his background. He is a gentle guy, who appreciates a soft bed and regular meals. He previously was an indoor-outdoor cat, but he has adjusted well to living indoors, as long as he has a window to watch the world go by. Eddie likes to watch the world from his cat tree. He loves canned food. He is a little sensitive to overstimulation, and might nip at you if you pet him too much. But he will curl up next to you, roll over and offer you his belly, gaze up at you with adoring eyes, and will thank you for your kindness and care. Fast Eddie tested positive for FIV (the feline immunodeficiency virus), but is a very healthy boy. Cats with FIV can live healthy normal lives as INDOOR-ONLY cats with good nutrition and care, and the virus can only be passed to another cat through a deep bite wound (it cannot be passed to people or dogs). Fast Eddie has been neutered, tested negative for FELV, is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, has been treated for fleas and worms and comes with a free vet visit. Fast Eddie’s adoption fee is $60 (adoption fees help us help another cat). He is currently in foster. Hobi
Hobi has lots of good stories to tell you. He’s had lots of adventures in his 15 years. He's a charming senior kitty with a beautiful silver coat and a curious manner that makes it hard to believe this boy is really 15 years old. Don't be surprised when you see him hop up on to a table or your kitchen counter like a cat with much less life experience! He's spry and talkative and still likes to chase a string around the floor. Hobi lived his whole life, from the time he was a tiny kitten, with just one family until both his people suffered failing health and could no longer care for this boy. He's looking for a warm and loving person that will listen to his stories and cuddle up on the sofa. Hobi has been neutered, tested negative for FELV/FIV, is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, has been treated for fleas and worms and comes with a free vet visit. DeeCee
Hi, I'm DeeCee! Are you looking for an affectionate companion? I might be your girl. I will sit on your lap, and entertain you by allowing you to shine a laser pointer for me to chase. I used to be shy, but now I'm just a little cautious in new situations. I would love to find a family that would lavish attention on me, me me! I'm a beautiful black and white tuxedo kitty and I am just a year and a half old. I was carrying a little extra weight around my middle, but with some careful calorie counting, and a little extra playtime, I have managed to shed most of the excess weight. There is still a little more of me to love, or to warm your lap, but don't let that fool you -- I like to romp and play, and explore. DeeCee was surrendered by her adopters because their other cat was bullying her, and keeping her cornered and stressed. Because of that, DeeCee peed outside of her litterbox. Since being in foster care, she has been treated for a urinary tract infection, and is recovering and using her box regularly. She will need to stay on a urinary tract health food for her lifetime, and she would probably do best as an only cat. DeeCee has been spayed, tested negative for FELV/FIV, is up to date on vaccines, is microchipped, has been treated for fleas and worms and comes with a free vet visit. DeeCee's adoption fee is $75 (adoption fees help us cover medical expenses). DeeCee is currently in foster. To meet DeeCee or learn more about her, please call 541-225-4955 option 1 or send an email to adoptinfo@westcoastdogandcat.org. CALYPSO is a a gorgeous and fluffy young solid gray female kitty with a white spot her throat, one white back foot, and a magnificent fluffy tail. Estimated to be about 1 to 2 years old, she was left behind when her owners had to move suddenly. Luckily, she was rescued by a kind neighbor, and surrendered to WCDC as a very pregnant mother-to-be. Calypso was a great mom to her litter of four kittens, and very friendly to humans even while raising her babies. This sweet girl is outgoing and confident; she is reserved for a little while with new people, but soon she will be exploring, settling in, and making herself at home. She also gets along well with other cats. Now that her kittens have grown up, Calypso is ready to find a stable family of her own that will love and cherish her forever – and will never abandon her again! Orphan Annie
ORPHAN ANNIE is a sweet but independent girl who is discriminating about whom she chooses as her friends. If she chooses you, you will be rewarded with LOTS of head bumps and affection! Annie would love a home where she can be her own girl but get love and treats when she is comfortable. She would do best as the only cat and would prefer a quiet home without children. Annie’s owner adopted a younger cat, and Annie didn’t get along with her. She was brought to a vet to be euthanized because she growled and hissed at the new cat, and WCDC placed her into a foster home where she has blossomed into such a happy and friendly kitty. Annie is 12 years old and in good health; she would love someone's lap to warm for her golden years. She has been spayed, is up to dates on vaccines, has tested negative for FELV/FIV and is microchipped and comes with a free vet visit. ACE is a striking little male black and white tuxedo kitten with four white paws, white whiskers and ear tufts, and a small white half-moustache. He and his siblings were born to a stray momma cat who was living in the vents of a large apartment complex. Ace and his sister Bing are great wrestle mates. He is the most outgoing of his siblings, and his foster mom has nick-named him "Screaming Ace" after the first night in his new surroundings. He has a lot to say! He is very brave and adventurous, and is the biggest kitten in his group. With love and care he will grow up big and strong, and into a handsome, striking cat. Ace gets along well with the adult cats in his foster home, and with his innate confidence, he mostly likely could adapt to a respectful dog. Like most active young kittens, he should be in a home with another playful young animal, or where someone is home a lot to monitor him, play with him, and give him lots of attention. BOSC is an adorable little male black and white tuxedo kitten with four white paws, white whiskers and ear tufts and a full white chin. He and his siblings were born to a stray momma cat who was living in the vents of a large apartment complex. Bosc is the most reserved of the litter, but once he gets the hang of the latest plaything, he's an eager joiner. He loves playing with his cat toys, and he would do best in a household with the company of another kitten buddy or cat. He bravely enjoys jumping from high places, but Bosc is cautious and is a "look before he leaps" kind of fellow. As a kitten he has too much energy to know if he will be a lap cat or not. He looks deeply into the eyes of his foster mom, and his white chin gives the perception of a frown -- but he is a pensive, optimistic soul. He gets along well with the adult cats in his foster home and will turn into a loyal life helper. Bosc had no experience yet with dogs. SkySky
SkySky is a stunning young Siamese-mix female kitty with beautiful chocolate points, about 2 years old. She is super loving, playful and sweet...until suddenly she bites. Happily, if you leave her alone, she calms back down very quickly, recovering her good humor and returning to her purring, lovey self in very short order. But this infrequently-appearing, sudden biting can be confusing to humans and might seem unpredictable. From her reactions, we suspect someone might have hit her for biting, and whatever happened only made things worse for this gorgeous girl. Most of the time this sleek beauty is happy, playful and engaging. She loves string toys and chasing the red laser dot; playing with the water faucet is big fun for her. She wants human interaction, playtime and lap time too. She enjoys having her head, chin, and neck scratched but can sometimes get touchy about her tummy and sides. And she doesn't like human faces getting in her face. She needs experienced cat people who will respect her boundaries -- and are willing to take a few holes in the process of learning those boundaries! SkySky was surrendered by her previous owner after she got pregnant for the third time. We placed her in a loving WCDC foster home where she had her kittens, and they are now weaned. She has been spayed and is ready now for her forever home. We do not recommend a home with children for SkySky, and she would strongly a home without other cats; she does not like dogs. SkySky’s adoption fee is $75, which is strictly to help cover our costs. She has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (she is negative), spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed—plus you get a free vet visit. She is currently in foster care. TIPPY is a gorgeous and fluffy one-year-old brown tabby female kitty who looks like she might have some Maine Coon in her. Like many cats, she wants to be in charge of her world, and prefers to decide for herself who her friends are and when she will accept being caressed. But once she's decided you are trustworthy and well-intentioned, she will purr, trill, and eagerly lean into your hand for pets. Tippy was living in a rough neighborhood, and was taken in by a kind-hearted resident who eventually surrendered her to a local vet when she lost her home. Because Tippy had to survive by her sharp wits and quick paws, abrupt movements still startle her. It will take a patient owner who is willing to be gentle and slow in approaching her and gaining her trust. Once that happens, Tippy will make a sweet and devoted lifetime companion. She doesn’t like other cats very much, and would do best as an only pet in a home without young children. She has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. Dimitri
Dimitri is a big magnificent long-haired brown tabby male kitty with white fur in a tuxedo pattern. This adorable guy is estimated to be about 7 years old, and with his size, markings, and temperament, he looks like he might have some Maine Coon in him. He is a friendly, outgoing cat and he absolutely adores people. Dimitri was trapped in a large colony in Springfield, and given his sweet and friendly nature towards humans, he was likely abandoned. He had been living on his own for at least 4 years that we are aware of, and he is truly ready to be part of a loving family again. He loves catnip, kitty treats and playing with wand toys with his foster mom and dad. Dimitri has tested positive for FIV (the feline immunodeficiency virus), which means that he must be an indoor-only kitty for his lifetime, but with some precautions to protect his immune system, he will likely lead a normal life. The virus can't be passed to dogs or to people, and only to other cats through a deep bite wound. Dimitri has occasional problems with loose stool, but we have taken him to a specialist who feels that this can be easily kept under control by using a prescription Gastrointestinal diet. We also performed a complete dental on him. Dimitri would do well as an only kitty -- but he does also enjoy the company of other cats (see photo); however, he is a very enthusiastic player, and can be a little rough on shy or fearful kitties. (It is unknown how he is with dogs). He has been tested for feline leukemia (he is negative), neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed – plus you get a free vet visit. His adoption fee is $60, which is strictly to help cover our costs. For more information or to meet Dimitri in foster care, please call 541-225-4955 option 1 or send an email to adoptinfo@westcoastdogandcat.org. Cleo
CLEO is a beautiful adult tortie kitty (about 7 to 10 years old) without an ounce of “tortitude”. She is a very sweet cat and wants the world to know that torties can be loving and mellow! She is gentle, appreciates love and kindness, and wants nothing more than to curl up next to you on the sofa while you relax at the end of your busy day. She will purr and purr to show you how much she enjoys your love and attention. Cleo was rescued by a group of kindhearted neighbors, and subsequently had surgery for entropion (eyelashes turned inward); she has recovered beautifully with follow-up ointment and tender loving care in her foster home. She would do fine with gentle children, and could co-exist with a nondominant cat. Cleo has tested positive for FIV (the feline immunodeficiency virus). However, it is likely that with a few precautions, she will lead a normal life -- her immune system can be protected by keeping her as an indoor-only kitty. The virus can't be passed to dogs or to people, and only to other cats through a deep bite wound. Lena
LENA is a sweet young brown and tan tabby female teenager with some orange highlights and a white muzzle and bib (this is called a TORBIE). This 6-month-old girl loves the cat dancer toy and to play with gentle children. She enjoys being petted but doesn’t like to be carried around, and will meow in protest (but she doesn't scratch). Lena is a major lap cuddler and loves just following you from room to room. She is very alert, and likes any toy with a bell, laser pointers and cat scratching posts. She and her siblings were found abandoned as young kittens and have been living in a loving foster home while getting over a harmless skin fungus (they are completely well now). Like most active youngsters, Lena would do best in a home with another playful young animal, or where someone is home alot to monitor her and give her lots of attention. LENA has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. Her adoption fee is $100 ($180 for 2 teenagers), which is strictly to help cover our costs. Atticus
ATTICUS is a beautiful, solid gray 2-year-old male kitty whose attributes lead us to believe he might be a Russian Blue mix: he is alert, friendly, playful, energetic, intelligent, and has a beautiful, shiny, dense coat. When he is ready to be petted, he will nudge your hand to let you know. When it's time to play, he is happy to chase a piece of yarn around the house, pulled by one of his people; then when it's time for his humans to take a break, he is happy to play with the ball of yarn all on his own. He uses his litterbox religiously, prefers his wave-shaped scratching post to furniture, and would love a tall cat tree to indulge his desire to climb. He is curious and smart and gets along well with older kids. He is not good with being picked up, but will follow you around the house and monitor all of your activities. Atticus was abandoned at a local vet after his urethra became blocked with crystals, and the vet performed a life-saving surgery that cured him of the problem. He is now a healthy boy, and his only special requirement is that he stay on a prescription diet that reduces crystal formation. Atticus would definitely prefer to be an only cat, but he most likely could acclimate to a friendly and mellow dog. His adoption fee is $75, which is strictly to help cover our costs. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/FELV, microchipped, deflead and dewormed and comes with a free vet visit. He is currently in foster care. Boots
BOOTS is a gorgeous long-haired tuxedo cat who is about 10 years old with the most adorable white mustache and spot on his nose. He is DECLAWED on his front paws, thus he must be an indoor-only cat (which he has been his whole life). He is a gentle and well-behaved guy who is very quiet and has a soft purr. His owner went into a nursing home, and Boots had been with her ever since he was a kitten -- thus it took him several weeks to acclimate to his new foster home. He can be quite playful at times, and wants you to be involved. Boots likes to follow you around and be right next to you, but he doesn’t like to be touched too much and he gets very anxious when being picked up. Learning to respect his boundaries with patience and kindness will reward you with his trust and love. He’s good at communicating and will sleep by your feet. Boots needs to be an only cat, and in a home with no young kids. He will make a wonderful kitty for a quiet person or couple looking for a delightful and loving companion. H e has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (he is negative), neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. Boots adoption fee is $60. CHICO is just the sweetest cat in the world! He is a handsome flame-point Siamese mix around 9 years old. At his current weight of 16+ lbs, he is a gentle giant, and his adopter will need to continue his weight-loss regimen so that he can get his boyish figure back and stay healthy. He has a cute little meow-chirp, and will talk to you alot. He loves to be petted (he will plop down on his side so that you can rub his tummy) and will purr and purr. Chico will cuddle up by you on the couch or bed, and he LOVES people and attention. He would do well with older children. He is an easy-going guy and should be OK with a mellow cat or cat-friendly dog with a slow introduction. He really likes to play, especially with the feather toy (exercise is great to help him lose weight too). His original owner loved him very much but had to give him up when he went into a care facility. We then adopted Chico to a woman who said he was the nicest cat she ever had -- but she subsequently fell down and is now unable to care for him. Won’t you give this sweet boy a stable forever home, with all of the love and attention he so deserves? He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, has tested negative for FELV and FIV, is microchipped and has been treated for fleas and dewormed and comes with a free vet visit. Ta'nai
TA' NAI is a beautiful and sweet black and white tuxedo female adult kitty. One vet estimated her age at 3 years old and another vet at 6 years old, but we believe her to be closer to 3. She was found homeless and pregnant, and subsequently had her babies after she was rescued. Her kittens grew up and were adopted, and Ta'nai has been living in a loving foster home learning to trust humans. She loves head pets and chin scritches, but is not a "needy" girl -- she would be the perfect kitty companion for someone who works alot. Her favorite toys are a laser light and her stuffed ostrich, and she goes completely silly for cat nip. She would prefer a quiet household, without noisy kids. She does well with other kitties after a proper introduction, and might be OK with a respectful dog. She has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (she is negative), spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed – plus you get a free vet visit. Ta'nai is currently in foster care. Foster Parents Needed
[PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE ALL PICTURES OF CATS THAT ARE ALREADY IN FOSTER CARE] West Coast fosters give their kitties lots of TLC and attention. Because of that, we have very well socialized cats that are readily adopted. BUT, we have reached capacity with our fosters. We need more fosters to help fulfill our mission of helping rescue special needs animals. Fosters are provided with all the food, bedding and litter the cat needs. We also pay all their medical expenses. Your part is to give them love and attention and how hard can that be? This is the perfect opportunity to have a pet without a life time commitment. Fostering lasts anywhere from one week to several months and YOU get to choose whether you foster bottle babies, kittens or adult cats AND how many. If you live in the Eugene/Springfield, Oregon area and have love to spare for these kitties, please call 541-225-4955. June 25, 2017, 6:51 pm

Tammy
TAMMY is a shy but very sweet little female kitty about 2 years old with plush black fur. She was born in a feral colony (and spayed with an ear tip), and then was taken into a loving foster home where she slowly learned to trust people. She is active and playful, but may hide when someone walks into the room or moves too quickly towards her. Once you gain her trust, however, she will purr for hours and enjoys all the chin rubs you can give her. She was adopted into a household with one other young kitty (Tasha), but Tammy is a very dominant kitty with other cats, and Tasha was a bit afraid of her. Tammy and Tasha’s adoptive mom recently died, and they are now living in a WCDC foster home where they have been separated. Tammy is still adjusting to the sudden change in surroundings, and even though she really loves to be petted, she will sometimes suddenly growl or hiss. She will need a quiet home without young children. Tammy is a diamond in the rough, and with a little TLC, she will be the perfect companion for the right somebody. TAMMY has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed, plus you get a free vet visit. TOOEY is a large and handsome fluffy black and white male tuxedo kitty with a white face blaze, about 21 months old. He is active and playful, and very affectionate -- he's not a scaredy cat at all. He is good with being held and sitting in laps, and is very bonded to humans. Tooey was adopted from WCDC as a kitten along with his sister, and their adopter has now moved in with a relative who is very allergic to cats. He will need a patient and loving person who will make him feel safe and adored -- but who also understands that young kitties can have periods where they exhibit lots of crazy energy! Tooey may be able to adjust to a mellow, non-dominant kitty or to a cat-friendly dog, but he is not a fan of active young kittens. Won’t you give this sweet young guy the stable forever home that he so deserves? His adoption fee is $75, which is strictly to help cover our costs. SM Meadow and River are very sweet, shy kiddos that need someone patient enough to wait for their wonderful personalities to come out and shine! Meadow a beautiful solid black girl is the friendliest one, and likes being picked up and snuggled. She'll sit around with her tongue peeking out of her mouth, looking adorable. River, an adorable gray tabby, needs a little more time before she'll come out to be social, but she follows her sister's lead. It'll take a month or two before River will start coming up to you for attention, and some time after that before she'll let you pick her up, but once she trusts you, she'll be devoted to you and follow you around and meow for attention 🙂 They're not used to loud noises, so they may run and hide the first few times they hear something new. They have a little experience with a cat savvy dog, and they did well once they got used to her, so with time, they could get along with a canine sibling. They can both be bribed with treats once they've settled in to their new environment. They're energetic, both love to chase da bird toy, and any string will get their attention! River likes to chase toys when you throw them, and Meadow will run along just because her sister is running. If you have treats in your hands, they'll both gently bat at your fingers until you give them some.? Because River is very bonded to her sister, Meadow, we are offering them at a special adoption fee of $100 for the pair, sponsored by Main Street Mini Storage. These adorable girls are shy with new people and situations. The important thing will be to create a feeling of safety for her by letting her settle in one room of your home with everything she needs: food, water, toys and a litter box. Interact with her during this time so she gets used to you being a part of her new life. She will need toys and lots of time with you, but most of all she will need your patience and love to blossom to her full potential. Both Meadow and River have tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, have been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed—plus you get a free vet visit. ARIANA is a beautiful young female kitty with sleek black fur and a cute white spot on her chest. This 3-year-old sweetheart is seeking affection and love. She is a cat who hates to be confined, and she is quite vocal (we call her "squeakers" because she talks so much). She is a little nervous about strange sounds or unfamiliar surroundings, and will sometimes hiss or growl -- but she is never aggressive (although she should not be in a home with young kids). She loves to play with string and balls, and she really enjoys sitting and looking out windows. Ariana was adopted from WCDC as a kitten, but was returned to us when her owner became financially unstable and was unable to care for her (or give her the attention that she so strongly desires). It took Ariana awhile to learn to trust her new family, but now she is very affectionate with her foster mom's teenagers, and sleeps with them every night. She will need a patient and cat-savvy adopter who will give her time to adjust -- but this young girl really wants to be a part of a family in a stable forever home! ZURI is a soft and silky, solid white young adult female kitty about 3 years old. She is very shy around new people and environments, but once she trusts you and is comfortable in her new environment, Zuri will purr and cuddle with you, sleep on the bed with you each night, and will happily come to you when you put your hand out or when you shake her food dish. She adores petting from individuals she trusts, and sometimes she will reach out a gentle paw to bat at your hand when you stop petting her, to say “more please!” Zuri loves to bat small kitty toys across the floor, but since she will sometimes put new things with her mouth, it is important that she not be given anything chewable. Zuri gets along with calm, cat-friendly dogs, and would probably be okay with gentle, cat-savvy kids age 12 or older. After a slow introduction, she got along OK with some of the other cats in her foster home, but not with others – so she might be happiest as an only cat. Zuri would do best in a calm home, where she can warm up to her surroundings at her own pace. A veterinarian called WCDC when Zuri’s owner brought her in to euthanize her because she had been living/hiding in their closet for the 2 years they had her. With patience and gentleness, Zuri has slowly learned that her home can feel safe, and has become more confident in exploring her home instead of hiding in a closet. She is now looking for a forever home that can provide her with the love and patience she needs to continue to blossom. CUDDLES is a beautiful and sweet short-haired black and gray tabby female kitty about 12 years old. She was surrendered by her people when they moved out of state and couldn’t take her with them. It took her some time to adjust to her foster home -- she was very scared at first -- but with a little patience and TLC, she has proved to be a friendly girl who enjoys gentle petting and especially chin scratches. She’ll be happiest in a quiet home with lots of low spots for her to hang out and nap in . Cuddles has been thoroughly checked out by a vet, and other than some minor arthritis in her hips, she is in excellent health. Once she has bonded to you, she loves to lay on your chest, legs or back, especially in bed at night, but not necessarily on your lap. She may give you an appreciative lick during petting or knead you with soft paws. She enjoys DaBird wire toy for play when she’s not asking for ear rubs. She prefers you don’t touch her feet too much, but once she trusts you, she is good with being brushed. Cuddles is currently in foster care and would love to meet you for a proper introduction. Miss Squeaky P
MISS SQUEAKY P (named because of her adorable squeak) is a gorgeous medium-haired tortoiseshell kitty with a cute white chin. She is about 6 to 7 years old. When she was rescued and came to her foster home, she was malnourished and suffering from flea dermatitis. After receiving veterinary care and several months of TLC, everything has turned around for her. She has blossomed into a very lovely and sweet girl, and while her skin may always need a little attention (we occasionally give her a few days of oral steroids), she now has a beautiful coat instead of the patchy and scabby skin she came in with! She is an adorable and affectionate companion, and is also very playful. Miss Squeaky P has lots of love to give and is very pleasant to hang out with, never needing too much attention, but she happily accepts it when given. She likes being brushed, adores catnip, her Neko Fly and the red laser light, and will also curl up on your lap and sleep with you at night. She gets along with other easy-going cats after a period of introduction, and she might do okay with a friendly dog -- but she would dearly love to be the only pet. She has been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (she is negative), spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, defleaed and dewormed - plus you get a free vet visit. Miss Squeaky P's adoption fee is $75. She is currently living in a loving foster home where she can be easily visited. For more information please call 541-225-4955 option 1 or send an email to adoptinfo@westcoastdogandcat.org. We’re partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to provide a $10 adoption fee for Ms. Squeaky P and some of our other very special felines during the month of June!
